Looking at the lineup of any festival today, it’s hard to believe that just a few years ago it was rare to find a female led bluegrass band---- go back a bit further and it was rare to find a woman in the lineup of any band.

 

Today, some of the greatest musicians playing bluegrass are women…but getting to the top wasn’t as easy as they make it look when they walk out on stage.  Join Claire Lynch, Missy Raines, Becky Buller and Claire Armbruster and find out what it was like “back in the dark ages” and how it compares to this golden age of women in bluegrass. Things are so much better in 2014…or are they???

 

This panel isn’t just another “history of women in bluegrass” --- we’ll give you the truth about what it’s like for women in music today. Find out what attracted these musicians to bluegrass, how they stay passionate about the music and stay focused on their career, while trying to keep that work-life balance we keep hearing about.
